JOB TITLE: Estimator/Project Manager
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Estimating
JOB SUMMARY:
Career minded individual desired to complete project management of heavy-civil construction projects from estimate through project closeout. Project types include residential and commercial development, municipal infrastructure rehabilitation, and DOT roadway construction with an emphasis on asphalt paving. Project sizes range from $10k to +$30mil
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
•Responsible for providing leadership and management to assigned projects in a safe, profitable, and timely manner. Manages the work in a manner consistent with standards of safety, quality and integrity. Participates as requested in the marketing, estimating, bidding, and contract negotiation phases of the projects assigned.
•Primary function is to serve as champion for the execution of the work.
•Review bid documents including plans, specifications, geotechnical reports; conduct detailed site investigations; obtain subcontractor and material supplier quotes to develop comprehensive construction cost estimates for review with estimating team and prepare bid submittal documents for submission to project owners.
•Develop and maintain positive working relationships with project owners and clients.
•Ability to assist in project design development and create conceptual estimates with limited information.
•Coordinate construction projects by clearly communicating project goals, requirements, and schedules with estimators, engineers, superintendents, and craft crew foreman.
•Assist and coordinate with construction field staff to ensure all necessary resources are scheduled, acquired, and available for efficient and cost-effective execution of each project.
•Accurately forecast project completion costs and communicate projections with construction field staff.
•Reviews, negotiates, and executes all change orders, supplements, and cost control budget adjustments.
•Assure projects are compliant with all regulatory permit and compliance requirements.
•Completes close-out requirements and punch lists in a timely manner. Manages warranty callbacks quickly to maintain owner/client relationships.
•QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
•Minimum of 3 years construction estimating and/or project management experience.
•Asphalt related estimating/project managing is a plus.
•BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent
•Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as a part of a large project team.
•Demonstrate working knowledge of construction means and methods of multiple disciplines of heavy-civil construction.
•Proficiency interpreting construction drawings, specification, and permitting requirements.
•Strong interpersonal skills developed to engage and retain positive working relationships.
•Strong developed skill to identify, track and manage project risk.
•Experience with B2W software preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Duties for this position will take place primarily in an office setting however, duties may require work outdoors and in various types of weather conditions. Project locations limited to the Northern Colorado area.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work performed often requires sitting or standing in front of a computer for extended periods of time. Walking job sites during various stages of completion will be required as well as some light lifting of 30 pounds or less.
EXPECTED WORKING HOURS:
Typical working hours are Monday through Friday 7a.m. until 5p.m. Overtime and weekend hours may be required.
WORK REPORTING LOCATIONS:
Northern Colorado
Employees are expected to have reliable transportation to and from the work reporting location.
Upon hire, the employee will either receive a vehicle allowance for a vehicle they already own or will be provided a company vehicle to be used while on company time.
