GN2 has considerable experience with tailings systems, on-pond assets, pipelines, civil, mechanical, and structural design, plant piping networks, pressure vessels, process skids and dewatering systems.
As an Mechanical Engineer (4-12 years) you will have the opportunity to work in full-cycle engineering from idea base to implementation, supported by a fast-paced group of forward-thinking experts.
Reporting to the Project Lead and as a member of the Engineering team, you will oversee the project life cycle from preliminary design through to project turnover.
This position is based in our Edmonton office with opportunities to participate in sight visits.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with GN2. As a Mechanical Engineer (4-12 years), you will have the opportunity to work full-cycle from idea base to implementation, while being supported by a fast-paced group of forward-thinking experts.
As the Mechanical Engineer, you will report to the Project Lead. You will participate in a wide range of activities, see below.
Key Responsibilities:
•· Provide design engineering for new products by producing 3D models for piping, structural, civil, and piling.
•· Prepare isometric and orthographic drawings from a 3D model.
•· Support various size projects from conception through to detailed engineering.
•· Assist in P&ID development, including drafting, correlating documents, etc.
•· Check the quality and accuracy of your own/others’ work.
•· Interact with production personnel to solve process, quality, and design issues.
•· Research materials, processes, and designs as they relate to our work.
•· Assist with production activities to help with the development of production methods and processes.
•· Assist on site/shop visits when required.
•· Work effectively in a team environment to meet project requirements.
•· Work primarily in an office environment but be willing to work both remotely if required. Work in the field may also be necessary sometimes.
Qualification and Professional Experience
•Extensive and practical application in drafting and modeling experience
•2-8 years (end to end lifecycle) of Mechanical experience
•University of Alberta grad and have or working towards or have P. Eng. designation with Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA) or Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC) is required.
•Enjoy developing models using AutoCAD design experience. Must be able to coordinate drawing reviews, produce mark-ups and perform field reviews as well as use Plant 3D, Inventor, Civil 3D
•Capable of working in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
•Experience in field and plant.
•Project management experience is preferred.
•Familiarity with ASME B31.3 and B31.4
•Effective communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with others, and desire to mentor, lead and guide junior and intermediate engineers.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
•Strong organizational, time management and leadership skills.
•Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions.
•Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner in a high-paced, multi-task environment.
•Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to navigate difficult conversations.
Other requirements and information
•Travel to work sites is rarely required and dependent upon the type of project. (5-10% at the most)
•Valid class 5 driver’s license is required.
•May need to provide support outside of regular business hours and / or on the weekend occasionally.
