Project-based/Expected 32-40 hours of work per week
As a Mechanical Drafter at CIMS LP, you will be a key contributor towards CIMS success by producing mechanical, technical and structural drawings, from those of a routine nature to those that are more complex, while embodying CIMS corporate values of Our People, Our Promise, Our Passion.
You will report to the Shop Coordinator and be accountable for:
- Creating drawings that are in compliance with applicable legislative and industry standards and ensure all engineering documentation and records are accurate and properly maintained.
- Producing accurate technical drawings, designs, and fabrication isometrics using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Working with engineers and/or clients to set and interpret design requirements.
- Maintaining and updating master files and engineering data sheets; perform material take-offs and prepare as-built documentation as required.
A successful candidate would be an individual who has:
- Completion of a two-to-three-year college program in engineering design and drafting technology or in a related field.
- Strong knowledge from either a college program, or trade background, of piping specs, details, and isometrics (required).
- 1+ years of experience working with piping isometrics- Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, blueprints, product specifications and geometric dimensioning tolerance (GD&T). Ability to enter personal scheduling details, tracking information and materials' details into tables and onto forms.
- Expert knowledge of CAD drafting programs, SolidWorks or related 3D engineering modeling software, MS Excel and MS Word. Experience with SpoolFab (Acorn) drafting program is considered an asset.
Working conditions you can expect while performing your role:
- Work in a well-ventilated office environment with adequate lighting and temperature.
- Standard office equipment will be used such as computers, photocopiers, fax, phone, etc.
- Work in a well-ventilated fabrication shop with adequate lighting and temperature; required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
