Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a mid-level Mechanical Design Engineer located in Houston, TX. The Engineer will be responsible for tasks such as design engineering, machine design, mechanical engineering, product design, and computer-aided design (CAD).
Key Responsibilities
•Design mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks, focusing on manufacturability and practical application in a production environment.
•Troubleshoot product performance issues from field use and resolve defects identified during manufacturing.
•Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to resolve issues and implement design improvements.
•Support the development of tooling, fixtures, and inspection aids.
•Create and maintain technical documentation, including detailed drawings, specifications, and procedures.
Required Qualifications
•Solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles: materials, mechanics, tolerancing, and GD&T.
•Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling and 2D drafting).
•Python, Excel VBA, or SolidWorks macros for automation or data analysis.
•Practical knowledge of machining, coatings, threads, and standard manufacturing methods.
•Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Self-directed with the ability to manage tasks and projects independently.
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience with oilfield tools, rotating equipment, or precision-machined parts.
•Experience designing injection mold tooling.
•Exposure to 3D scan inspection tools and dimensional analysis workflows.
