Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a mid-level Mechanical Design Engineer located in Houston, TX. The Engineer will be responsible for tasks such as design engineering, machine design, mechanical engineering, product design, and computer-aided design (CAD).

Key Responsibilities

•

Design mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks, focusing on manufacturability and practical application in a production environment.

•

Troubleshoot product performance issues from field use and resolve defects identified during manufacturing.

•

Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to resolve issues and implement design improvements.

•

Support the development of tooling, fixtures, and inspection aids.

•

Create and maintain technical documentation, including detailed drawings, specifications, and procedures.

Required Qualifications

•

Solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles: materials, mechanics, tolerancing, and GD&T.

•

Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling and 2D drafting).

•

Python, Excel VBA, or SolidWorks macros for automation or data analysis.

•

Practical knowledge of machining, coatings, threads, and standard manufacturing methods.

•

Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal.

•

Self-directed with the ability to manage tasks and projects independently.

Preferred Qualifications

•

Experience with oilfield tools, rotating equipment, or precision-machined parts.

•

Experience designing injection mold tooling.

•

Exposure to 3D scan inspection tools and dimensional analysis workflows.
