The Mechanic Assistant supports the Fleet Mechanic in performing and documenting maintenance and repair tasks on light, medium, and heavy equipment, including pickups, dump trucks, trailers, excavators, backhoes, and other construction equipment.
This is a field-based position that may require travel to various job sites to assist with repairs. A company truck will be provided when traveling with the lead mechanic. Starting wage is based on experience.
- Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and service of vehicles and equipment at assigned intervals
- Support documentation of preventive maintenance reports and equipment repair logs
- Help with basic hydraulic, engine, and mechanical repairs under supervision
- Assist in the repair and upkeep of construction tools and equipment
- Pick up and deliver parts, supplies, and materials as needed to support repair operations
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools are properly stored
- Follow instructions and work effectively with supervision, while developing the ability to work independently
- Adapt to changing work schedules and priorities
- Willingness to work occasional overtime as needed

Qualifications· Candidates should have basic experience working with gas and diesel engines and a willingness to learn more advanced diagnostics and repair techniques. Familiarity with hydraulic systems is helpful but not required, and any welding or small-fabrication experience is considered a plus. Prior hands-on work in a shop or mechanical environment is preferred. Additional experience with small-engine repair, truck brake systems (hydraulic or air), and basic electrical systems is beneficial. Applicants should be comfortable using standard hand tools. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen; federal regulation requires testing for marijuana
- Personal transportation available to and from job site.
- Valid Driver's License.
- CDL a plus.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
