Job Overview
The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the flow of materials within the corporation, including planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of inventory, ensuring that the right materials are available at the right time to meet production needs while optimizing costs and minimizing waste. This position has responsibility for a team that supports purchasing, inventory control, shipping and receiving and materials storage.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, with a certification in Production and Inventory Management or equivalent preferred; five (5) years in Supply Chain Management and or Logistics related work with at least 2 years’ experience in Management; or an equivalent combination of related education, training and relevant experience that will satisfy the education and experience requirements.
Candidates must possess strong leadership and motivation skills to guide team members in making consistent progress in training goals. Proficiency using MS Office Suite (Access, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Word) and manufacturing software (i.e. ERP systems). Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly, both written and orally, the ability to work with others to maintain a positive work environment. Ability to handle complex information with discretion and maintain the confidentiality of all company information. Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
The ability to travel to other company locations is required. This is not a remote position; the qualified candidate must work from the Michigan facility.
