Material Handler I (Conversion Temp to Perm)

Description

Job Summary: This individual will interface with production, warehousing, and purchasing to ensure on time delivery of Kits, fulfillment of Kanban, and point of use inventory. This position performs a vital task in ensuring production has everything needed to meet its obligations.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

- HS Diploma/GED preferred. However, a combination of education and experience will be considered.

- Understanding of production process.

- Can track and fulfill kit requests and shortages.

- Excellent communication skills to support pleasant interactions with a multi-layered workforce.

- Ability to report stock quantities and potential shortages.

- Must be onsite to complete work.

- 1 year of FLT experience/ certification

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Must be proficient in MS Excel.

- Ability to track and trend usage of parts in production.

- Ability to understand production forecast and its potential impact on floor stocks.

- Reads production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.

- Confers with department supervisors to determine overdue material and parts and to inform supervisors of material status.

- Communicates with warehousing to ensure on time delivery of kits and shortage fulfillment –replenishment needs.

- Communicates with purchasing to generate shortage reports with up- to-date arrival estimates.

- Communicates with sheet metal/powder coating to fulfil panel/part needs.

- Expedites transfer of materials from stock area and replenish bins/racks for floor stock material.

- Examines material received, verifies parts numbers, and checks discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.

- Completes minor repairs to facilitate project completion.

- All other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

- Standing and walking 6-8 hours each day. Stretching and lifting overhead, bending over to work on lower locations.

- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.

- Loud, warm in the summer months- cool in the winter months, dusty, near forklifts.
