The Machining Supervisor is responsible for the safe and cost-effective operation of the production line in support of the company’s products. The Supervisor is a first line supervisor with the authority and responsibility of the Production Line, product cost, budget, scheduling, and quality programs. This position will work closely with the operations manager, manufacturing engineer and design engineering personnel to achieve the highest quality part in the most cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities:
Production Scheduling:
•Provides inputs to planning department on production schedules and goals. Is responsible for implementation of daily, weekly and monthly schedules for all work centers and employees in this department.
•Monitors production goals and manages performance of the employees and work centers to achieve and support sales.
•Ensures personnel are trained and understand the demands and the flow of the manufacturing process.
•Regularly participates in the scheduled production meetings. Is prepared with the status of all jobs currently in production.
•Participates in daily and weekly status reports and keeps the company management team informed of production trends, favorable and unfavorable, status and effectiveness.
•Ensures programs used on the machines are kept up to date to the latest revision and are available on a timely basis to support existing product and new product designs.
•Supports the Sales and Engineering departments with timely support and input of current manufacturing capabilities and limitations.
Training:
•Establishes training programs where each employee maximizes growth and career development opportunities by developing and improving their depth of knowledge and experience.
•Develops training and skills assessment charts and metrics, which clearly identifies the skill level of every employee in the department.
•Establishes cross training programs in the department which improves the depth of the department, provides variety of Job function for employees and reduces the risk lost production due to absenteeism.
•Establishes training goals for the department. Supervisory Responsibilities:
•Enforces company attendance, appearance and performance goals for the department.
•Ensures all employees in the department accurately follow all company procedures, the area is kept clean, safe and organized at all times.
•Maintains a rapport with each person to assess their preparedness and alertness to perform at their best each day, safely.
•Ensures all employees record direct and indirect activities within the ERP system to facilitate accurate costing, performance and scheduling.
•Use monitoring tools and controls to effectively control costs and establish methods to prevent fraud, waste and theft of company assets.
•Implements methods to reduce waste in all operations. Ensures each team member is aware of their individual and collective impact to cost containment in the department operations.
•Supports each employee’s personal growth with correct and adequate proportion of positive and supportive reinforcement of company policies. As required quickly and effectively administers counseling for negative behavior and or substandard performance.
•Ensure tooling stock is maintained at all times.
•Create and modify machine programs as required.
•Perform machining duties as needed to maintain production schedules.
Required Skills & Experience:
•Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
•Preferred: A College degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Must have experience using ERP software and a demonstrated understanding of the MS-Office Suite of productivity tools.
•Must be able to create CNC programs and have experience using CAD software
•Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
•Must have experience using ERP software and a demonstrated understanding of the MS-Office Suite of productivity tools.
•Must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.
•Preferred minimum 5 years of experience in machining leadership role with demonstrated success in achieving production goals.

Work Environment/Conditions:
•This position will require working primarily indoors in a smoke-free office and manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.
•Limited travel will be required to support offsite personnel and business projects.
•Occasional assignments will require remote accessing and may include evening or weekend schedules.
•The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
