GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Fabrication Supervisor coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating a variety of welding and related equipment to fabricate pipe and perform specialized fabrication processes by performing the following duties. Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED and two to four years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before managers or groups of employees. Ability to read, understand and interpret plant drawings.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
None Required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Welding certification (Level III).
Other Skills and Abilities
: Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English.
Other Qualifications:
Ability to train and instruct Level I, II and III welders when required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises 10 to 20 in the Fab and Fab Finishing areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
