Job Summary
The Manager, Travel & Expense will manage and coordinate the company’s travel and expense program and is responsible for establishing and monitoring policies for employees to follow when traveling as well as employee’s business expenses while in their home location. This position also works with outside travel agencies, airlines, hotels, and rental car companies to support the company's travel infrastructure and reduce travel costs. This position also manages personnel who help to coordinate company travel and expense needs.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide high-quality professional service to travelers.
- Supervise staff who assist in the coordination of employee travel and expense needs.
- Help develop, monitor, and enforce the company’s travel and expense policy.
- Review and approve expense reports.
- Provide regular reporting to management and business units as required.
- Manage relationships with outside travel vendors and ensure the company is using preferred suppliers.
- Maintain awareness of main travel trends.
- Identify and execute contracts with outside vendors to support the company's travel infrastructure and reduce travel costs.
- Manage traveler inquiries and aim to meet their expectations.
- Establish priorities to meet deadlines and goals within guidelines established by management.
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with all levels throughout the organization.
- Create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
- Predictable, reliable, and dependable attendance is a requirement of the position.
- 3 – 5 years Travel and Expense Industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Prior experience in effectively hiring, motivating, and managing a team is required
- Diplomacy and tact
- Commitment to travelers/employees
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
