The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) provides quality water supply, water pollution control, mapping, and household hazardous waste collection to eight member municipalities: Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor. Additionally, the MDC provides drinking water to portions of Farmington, Glastonbury, East Granby and South Windsor, known as the MDC's non-member towns.
The purpose of this classification is to supervise and manage District water distribution and wastewater collection pipelines and related systems and facilities. Work involves directing pipeline systems maintenance and repair, meter reading, maintenance and repair, stock services, and budget development and administration.
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related field; supplemented by minimum ten (10) years of progressively responsible previous experience that includes utility or public works engineering or maintenance including three (3) years at the managerial level; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must have a valid driver's license. Requires a CT Class III Operator Water Distribution System Certificate; and a Connecticut Professional Engineer's License is preferred.
