Job Title: Manager, Facilities Engineering ~ RQ 25- 22 ~

TAQA North is currently searching for a Manager, Facilities Engineering. Reporting to the Director, Engineering, the Manager, Facilities Engineering will lead a team of professionals in the planning, developing and executing infrastructure in our 4 key asset areas. The work would include wellsite tie ins, pipelines, upstream infrastructure and plant work. The stewardship in this role is to lead TAQA North in “best in class” standing in executing the design, construction and commissioning of production facilities in our assets.
As TAQA North’s facilities leader, the mandate is to deliver corporate-wide regulatory and engineering standards compliance, collaborative project management solutions and expert technical support to the Asset Teams and Operations. The peers to this role are also discipline leaders within production, maintenance and operations. The Manager will provide leadership of facilities engineering initiatives and support ongoing capital projects. In addition, the Manager will provide expertise and technical support to the Asset Teams and Field Operations to help maintain optimal production and minimize operating costs.
This position is based out of the Calgary downtown office.
- Leading the Facilities Engineering team.
- Develop the Facility Engineering Team’s roles and responsibilities
- Establish engineering design standards and best practices to execute capital projects and field modifications for facilities required for the production, transportation, measurement and storage of hydrocarbons and by products produced by TAQA North
- Help develop and provide stewardship of TAQA North’s Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Oversee TAQA North’s Professional Practice Management Plan
- Develop best practices in project planning and execution within TAQA North
- Develop tools for tracking and optimizing cost estimating, scheduling, permitting, cost control, execution, quality control, and documentation of facilities projects
- Implement project tracking systems to streamline processes and optimize facility cycle time
- Promote a collaborative environment between the various disciplines within the Asset Teams and other groups (Surface Land, Drilling & Completion, Operations & Maintenance), to strategically optimize the critical path on facility projects with a view of improving cycle times, reducing facility costs and improving operating margins
- Review project scopes to ensure cost and schedule effectiveness
- Provide regular project reports on key performance indicators, project status, costs, cycle
- times, etc.
- Develop competency requirements and identify development programs/training for Facilities Engineers.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews, peer reviews and peer assists of new projects
- Provide direction to facilities staff and external contractors.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to facility engineers and technologists
- Conduct annual technical performance evaluations of employees and contribute to employee development plans
- Work closely with the Asset Teams and Operations Personnel to provide engineering support to Field Operations
- Participate in property reviews, and optimization studies for Base Management to optimize production or reduce operating costs
- Explore and promote new technologies and innovative ways to optimize production or reduce operating costs
- Participate in HAZOP reviews as required
- Provide input to annual capital and operating expense budgets
- Participate in the development plans of the Asset Teams
- Contribute to annual benchmarking studies internal to TAQA North and with external parties
- Promote continuous improvement of health, safety and environmental performance within the Facilities Engineering and Construction group
- Be a key member of the corporate emergency response team- Professional Engineer with 10+ years facility engineering/management experience.
- Knowledge of the current CSA & ASME Codes
- Knowledge of the provincial regulations and acts in Alberta & Saskatchewan
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Strong technical background and ability to effectively lead a goal-oriented team
- Ability to work in a matrix organization
- Strong leadership skills with an ability to inspire those around them
- Operations experience is preferred
- Oil and Gas Engineering experience is mandatory
