We are seeking a Superintendent to join our Maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the safe, effective, and reliable maintenance of all fixed plant assets, including both mechanical and electrical disciplines. This position will oversee a team of front-line supervisors and planners, ensuring alignment of daily work execution with long-term maintenance strategies. The Superintendent will be accountable for building a unified, high-performing maintenance organization that emphasizes safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
The role will be based at our Winnemucca, NV office during construction and transition to the Thacker Pass Project site during commissioning and operations. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager. Travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations may be required.
- Supervise and motivate the Maintenance Shift Supervisors and relevant contractor(s), conduct performance evaluations, and address any personnel issues.
- Supervises and develops maintenance and electrical staff in such a manner that fosters an empowered team capable of achieving high performance standards.
- Integrate electrical and mechanical maintenance teams into one coordinated department, eliminating silos and ensuring collaboration.
- Support commissioning and startup efforts, ensuring a smooth transition from construction to operations.
- Develop systems and foster the required collaboration to ensure the department meets monthly targets.
- Coordinate job assignments, provide technical guidance, and ensure work meets quality and safety standards.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Collaborate with the planning team to prioritize work orders, schedule shutdowns, and manage maintenance backlogs.
- Contribute to the development of maintenance strategies, procedures, and standard operating practices.
- Monitor equipment condition and report potential issues to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Train, mentor, and develop maintenance and electrical personnel, fostering a strong culture of safety and reliability.
- Work closely with supply chain to manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
- Assist in tracking and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) such as equipment availability, downtime, maintenance costs, backlog, and safety metrics.
- Develop, exemplify, and maintain positive and effective leadership and skills within department, at all levels.
- Effectively promote, deploy, and comply with all Safety & Health and Environmental policies, standards, procedures and regulations across the Maintenance Department.
- Clear understanding and willingness to observe and practice company SOPs and policies.

- Perform other duties as assigned
- Technical diploma, trade certification, or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance or equivalent experience, preferred.
Minimum 7–10 years of maintenance experience in mining, heavy industry, or process plant environments, including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory .
- Proven ability to develop and implement new training programs, procedures, and systems, especially in greenfield or start-up environments.
- Proven experience leading maintenance staff within a multi-discipline team in operating, engineering, and procurement framework.
- Experience with departmental budgeting, workforce planning, and contractor management.
- Manage, motivate, and influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective verbal, written, and negotiation skills with the ability to motivate teams.
- In-depth knowledge of fixed plant equipment, including crushers, conveyors, mills, pumps, and utilities.
- Ability to multitask and coordinate several projects in parallel while prioritizing and pursuing critical-path tasks on an accelerated schedule.
- Ability to critically challenge assumptions, “think outside the box”, and deliver solutions.
- Be a self-starter: highly motivated, able to work independently, with high energy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Teams, etc.)
- Experience with commissioning and startup projects is considered an asset.
- Proficient in using CMMS and maintenance planning tools.
