Western contractor to the mining industry has an opening for an experienced Maintenance Field Mechanic. This position is based in Tucson, AZ, NV with travel to Nevada, Colorado and throughout Arizona . Majority of travel will be in Arizona. Requirements include: No DUI within the past 5 years, no felonies, must be 21 years of age, must have a valid U.S. driver’s license for at least 12 months and drug screen required.
This position performs troubleshooting, welding, mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance on vehicles, equipment and installations used at Shop and mine site locations if necessary. Experience in Repair and Maintenance of Class 8 Truck Chassis, experience in Industrial Electricity –preferred, but not required.
Repair and troubleshooting of 12-24 Volt Electrical systems. Welding experience- preferred, but not required. CDL/Class B required, Class A is preferred. Strong work ethic and motivation to perform task independently. Willingness to learn advanced skills.
- Assure that Southwest Energy’s Surface & Underground operational safety and equipment maintenance are never compromised.
- Provide diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for equipment problems while helping maintain equipment at all Southwest Energy MSHA, OSHA, Surface and Underground locations.
- Fix and maintain facility equipment in an efficient organized manner to maximize equipment availability.
- Effectively communicate with the facility Supervisors to maintain a relationship to assure maximum availability and utilization of plant equipment.
- Work with the Marketing Manager and Supervisor to maximize the availability of equipment by providing maintenance to meet customer requirements.
- Comply with all appropriate federal, customer and company regulations, and policies while performing maintenance work.
- Ensure all DOT regulations are maintained when operating the field maintenance service truck.
- Other job duties as required- Minimum 50% + Underground.
- 20-25% Safety, Health & Environmental, 40-45% Maintenance Skills, 15 –20% Maintenance Troubleshooting and 5-10% Regulatory Compliance.
- Competence in the use of applicable maintenance computer software diagnostic tools and basic computer skills
- 3-5 years of experience/working knowledge in a mechanics position within Southwest Energy or with another company.
- Ability to provide a positive proactive approach to driving Safe Production goals
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Experience in organization skills, technical maintenance skills, and risk assessment
- Competence in the use of applicable maintenance computer software diagnostic tools and basic computer skills
