The Machine Operator is a mechanical and technical role that requires some expertise. On-the-job training is provided for qualified candidates. The FrameCAD technology is fed with pre-approved engineering plans and the Machine Operator must operate, calibrate, and maintain the equipment to efficiently produce steel studs for assembly. These complex pieces of equipment take coiled sheets of steel, shape, punch and cut into unique steel studs used in commercial construction. It is essential that all safety protocols are followed while achieving accuracy, quality, and time-sensitive objectives.
- Perform regular machine maintenance, calibration, and inspection to ensure proper machine operation
- Complete production paperwork
- Load production file onto roll forming machines
- Review production file on roll forming machines for potential conflicts
- Perform product quality checks using calipers and measuring equipment
- Awareness of quality specifications and protocol
- Follow guidelines to adjust and change machines to accommodate different product
- Interpret established construction plans
- Organize materials at work station
- Ensure materials meet established quality standards
- Accurately use basic measuring devices
- Prepare items for shipment including crating and documentation
- Practice good housekeeping daily
- Follow safety guidelines and always wear appropriate PPE including, but not limited to, steel/composite toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, and ear plugs
- Operate forklift and other required equipment per safety guidelines, upon proper certification
- Willingness to work in other areas of the operation including, but not limited to assembly and loading/unloading
- High School degree or equivalent
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Highly motivated with a positive attitude
- Must be able to routinely lift and maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally lift and maneuver 100+ pounds using team lifts, proper lifting techniques, and equipment upon proper certification- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, sit, bend, squat, kneel, twist, crouch, crawl, and reach for long periods of time in a manufacturing shop setting
- Must have reliable transportation and be punctual for shift work
- Ability to multitask and communicate clearly any questions or issues concerning the production process
- Must be dependable, organized, professional and able to follow instructions
- Able to work in a team environment or individually with minimal supervision
- Able to read English and understand the panel layout prints for production
- Basic knowledge of hand tools/power tools specifically oriented to steel fabrication (hand grinder, tin snips, nibblers, hand drills, etc.) is preferred
