Job Summary:
This role oversees logistics and distribution activities for RAC Americas production plants. The manager is responsible for optimizing the movement, distribution, and storage of materials, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery while meeting budget requirements. Key responsibilities include developing transportation strategies, managing carrier relationships, collaborating with various departments to create an efficient supply chain, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading the Norfolk transportation team.
- Develop and implement strategy to determine optimum mode of transportation to deliver best customer performance
- Responsible for all aspects of receiving, operations planning and distribution/ transportation
- Develop strategic alliances with select carriers collaborating with purchasing and operations team, to provide quality service at lowest total cost
- Locate and assign carriers to individual orders using cost-effective and reliable carriers
- Create and distribute standard reports regarding freight costs and carrier performance
- Order rail cars and monitor private rail fleet, including ad hoc maintenance and scrapping when units reach end of life.
- Build, manage, allocate and animate the logistic network for the region.
- Ensure effective team development, collaboration and support through setting and monitoring annual performance plans, career development and cooperative spirit
- Ensure customer needs are met, advising the Imerys production and sales teams of client expectations , and coordinate response to opportunities and challenges
- Work with key leaders/function at both regional and at the corporate office level to ensure smooth communication and resolve issues
- Provide timely and accurate reporting of activities and customer information to meet Imerys reporting requirements
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Business or other related area
- Minimum of 10 years experience in logistics, supply chain management, and intermodal transportation operations
- Strong analytical financial and P&L skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage cost performance, supply/demand forecasting and distribution execution across a variety of product lines from multiple operations
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Working knowledge of inventory management, production scheduling, DRP
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
