Local CDL Class A Truck Driver

Sheet Metal Connectors, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of HVAC ductwork and sheet metal products. We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Class A CDL Driver to join our team. The position operates out of our Fridley location in Minnesota for local deliveries. This individual will be responsible for transporting goods between our facilities and customer sites, while ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining compliance with DOT regulations, and representing our company with professionalism.

Job Duties

· Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to maintain vehicle safety and compliance.

· Assist in loading and unloading HVAC ductwork, sheet metal materials, skids, and components.

· Ensure all loads are secured properly to prevent shifting, damage, or safety hazards.

· Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles, including Dock Trucks and Manual/Automatic Tractor/Trailer combination, to local / regional jobsites and shops.

· Ensure timely pickups and deliveries in accordance with dispatch schedules. Communicate with dispatch regarding schedules, delays, or issues.

· Maintain accurate logbooks, trip reports, and required documentation in compliance with DOT regulations.

· Perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical concerns promptly.

· Adhere to all company safety policies, use of Personal Protective Equipment, and traffic laws.

Skills and Abilities

· Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.

· Minimum 1 year of verifiable driving experience.

· Clean driving record (MVR) and ability to pass a DOT background check.

· Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service rules, and safety practices.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and utilize proper lifting techniques (hand-trucks, dollies, assisted lifts) for heavier objects.

· Strong communication skills and professional customer service attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

· Forklift certification or experience loading/unloading freight.

· Construction jobsite delivery experience.

· Skillful driving experience in downtown areas.
