Lead Solar Electric Installers are responsible for directing the activities of 3-4 person crews onsite, working as a team to ensure timely and precise completion of solar electric installations, keeping the Construction Manager updated on project specifics and following best installation and safety practices. Successful Lead Installers will be motivated and dedicated team players who pay high attention to detail and take genuine pride in their work craft.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
· Direct the work of team members at job site in a professional manner, answering questions and providing instruction as needed
· Interact with customers to answer and direct questions as needed
· Read and review blueprints and plan documents
· Install racking systems and modules as designed
· Configure and complete electrical wiring of the solar system (AC & DC)
· Apply weather seal, such as pipe flashings and sealants, to roof penetrations and structural devices
· Complete roof installation on various roof types (shingle, tile, etc.)
· Test operation or functionality of mechanical, electrical, and control systems
· Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues
· Ensure job documentation is completed when job installation is finished
- Thorough knowledge of solar electric installation principles and techniques
- Basic understanding of electrical wiring
- Must possess strong attention to detail
- Must have a valid CA driver's license and a clear driving record (MVR)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly- Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, and work from heights
- Must be able to work on feet for extended period of time in diverse weather conditions
- Must be able to maintain a high level of quality assurance with an emphasis on safety
- Previous experience with solar electric installation or general construction required
- Previous experience managing or overseeing the work of others required
- Previous experience utilizing power and hand tools required
