About This Job

Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

As a federal Crown corporation, Trans Mountain continues to build on more than 70 years of experience delivering operational and safety excellence through our crude oil pipeline system.

With our expanded pipeline system now in place, Trans Mountain provides enhanced direct access for Canadian crude oil to world markets. Trans Mountain is seeking a Social, Media, & Issues Management Lead to lead Trans Mountain’s social media strategy and manage real-time issues that impact our reputation. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications, this role is critical in protecting and enhancing our brand, maintaining stakeholder trust, and ensuring transparent communications in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.

This role is based in at our Calgary Head Office and is a full-time in office-based position.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and execute corporate social media strategy across LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, YouTube; recommend new platforms.

- Implement social listening and analytics programs to inform content and issues management.

- Lead digital communications during crises as part of the Crisis Communications team.

- Produce engaging news-style content and guide media relations strategies.

- Develop and manage an issue management framework to identify and respond to reputational risks.

- Collaborate across teams to create integrated digital content plans aligned with business goals.


Qualifications And Professional Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field.

- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in social, digital, or content roles.

- Energy industry experience is preferred.

- Expertise in social media platforms, analytics, and social listening tools (e.g., Meltwater).

- Proven experience managing digital strategies during crises.

- Ability to make strategic decisions under pressure; ICS training an asset.

- Established media relationships and experience advising senior leaders.

- Strategic thinker with strong judgment under pressure.

- Leadership and collaboration across teams.

- Analytical mindset with ability to turn data into insights.

- Ability to work in high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.

- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills for digital platforms.


Other Requirements

- On-call rotation for crisis communications.

- Occasional travel required.
