What You’ve Accomplished

- Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related discipline, or experience in lieu of degree

- At least 2 years of experience in System Administration

- Practical knowledge of one or more server environments and architecture (Windows w/Linux desired)

- Good technical knowledge in server monitoring, hardware, software, networking and storage

- Basic technical leadership skills and the ability to work well with all levels of staff and management

- Fundamental troubleshooting, problem identification and tailored problem-resolution skills

- Good written and verbal communication skills

- ITIL foundation certification.

You may have also acquired the following skills:

- At least 5 years managing Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Cisco networking in a midsize or larger organization is preferred

- Hands-on experience staging and deploying datacenter IT systems (racks, servers, workstations, networking - especially portable/temporary solutions).

- Experience with ruggedized hardware (rack-mount servers, UPS maintenance).

- Proven troubleshooting skills: hardware diagnostics, virtualization (VMware/VirtualBox/Hyper-V), and packet-level network analysis.

- Scripting: PowerShell, Python, etc., for automation of builds, tests, and deployments as well as for utility and troubleshooting purposes.

- Comfortable working in industrial settings (PPE required, safety orientations) and delivering under tight deadlines.

As a Lead IT Systems Administrator in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Installed Base Business Unit. Your work will include:

- Configure, patch, and secure Windows workstations and servers (physical and VMware) to support onsite and remote teams.

- Manage Active Directory (users and groups), DNS entries, and system imaging and configuration.

- Install, monitor, and troubleshoot network switches (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs) and Cisco hardware for reliable connectivity.

- Stage, test, and validate portable data centers (servers, storage, switches, networking) for rapid field setup during planned outages.

- Maintain deployment operating instructions, hardware inventories, and rollback procedures.

- Keep firmware, OS images, and BIOS versions up to date on deployable equipment.

- Serve as an escalation point for field support; communicate solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This position requires occasional travel between the Lynchburg sites. Together we will enable clean, safe, and economical low-carbon energy to meet the global ambition for a better tomorrow.

Your Total Rewards Package

The range of base salary for the position is between $75,000 - $97,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
