We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and highly motivated full-time IT Systems Administrator to establish, operate and maintain C-FER computer networks and related hardware and software including providing technical direction, overseeing internal client support, and keeping C-FER’s computer and network systems operating, current and secure. This position will be fully on-site, supporting both of C-FER’s Edmonton locations, but will be based out of our 200 Karl Clark Road, Edmonton location. The successful candidate will work well independently on assignments/projects that are complex and require specialized knowledge.
- Oversees the installation, support, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer systems within C-FER’s environment.
- Ensures on-premise and cloud services are designed, sized, provisioned, and configured to meet C-FER’s business needs.
- Ensures employees have the necessary computing resources and equipment to perform their duties, based on collaboration with respective managers and in accordance with applicable policies and guidelines.
- Ensures effective troubleshooting of hardware and software issues, delivering user-centric solutions.
- Resolves email, collaboration, and access issues; implements compliance policies; manages data loss prevention and multi-factor authentication settings.
- Ensures data and media recoverability by establishing backup schedules and database archive operations that comply with industry best practices and records management policies.
- Monitors and recommends long-term requirements for computer systems operations and administration by overseeing continuous upgrades and improvements to C-FER’s systems.
- Conducts routine hardware and software audits of operating systems, workstations, servers, and services to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, guidelines, and configurations.
- Provides technical direction on how external electronic services interact with C-FER’s network systems.
- Reviews external environments, emerging technologies, and industry standards, and articulates their potential impact on C-FER’s operating environment.
- Drafts and creates technical documentation and supporting resources to provide instruction and information on IT processes.
- Documents the inventory and purchasing history of all IT assets.
- Assists in the creation of C-FER’s network and computing policies and guidelines.
- Oversees and reviews work of IT team members as needed.
As the ideal candidate you will have the following qualifications:
- Accredited 2 to 3-year Information Technology Certificate or Diploma with a minimum of 7 years of related work experience in supporting a computer networking environment, or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of related work experience, or equivalent.
- Experience with the following: Windows operating systems, applications, and computer hardware/software; creating, managing, and maintaining a diverse computer networking environment, including troubleshooting a Microsoft Active Directory environment; supporting and administering a Microsoft 365 (M365) cloud environment; managing and operating Microsoft Azure resources; resolving email, collaboration, and access issues; implementing compliance policies, managing data loss prevention and multi-factor authentication; implementing backup strategies and operating backup management systems; supporting and maintaining VMware virtualization platforms and infrastructure; maintaining Microsoft server operating systems and applications; supporting and managing firewall devices for robust network security; and utilizing disk imaging technologies and deployment processes.
