To help lead that growth, we are seeking an exceptional Lead CNC Machinist who can help develop our machining department into a world-class operation.
The Lead CNC Machinist is responsible for leading and developing our CNC machining department while actively programming, setting up, and machining complex parts on both CNC lathes and mills.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance production work with mentoring and operational leadership. You will help guide a team of 3–5 machinists, improve machining processes, and increase machine utilization while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
This position plays a key role in our company’s growth and will help build the foundation for a high-performance CNC machining department.
- CNC Programming & Machining
- Program, setup, and operate CNC lathes and mills
- Develop efficient machining processes for one-off and small production runs
- Optimize programs for cycle time, tool life, and reliability
- Work with CAM software and conversational programming
- Produce complex parts from prints, models, and reverse-engineered components
- Carbon steels

Experience with the following equipment is highly preferred:
- Haas VF-4
- Mazak Quick Turn 250 (2-axis)
- Mazak Quick Turn 350MY (live tooling)
- TRAK Toolroom lathes
- Lead and mentor a team of 3–5 machinists
- Train newer machinists in setup, tooling, and best practices
- Establish high standards for workmanship and accountability
- Build a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement
- Assist in evaluating and developing machinist skill levels
- Coordinate machining work with operations, sales, and production teams
- Help prioritize work orders and meet delivery commitments
- Assist with job planning and tooling requirements
- Maintain strong communication with shop leadership
- Help improve workflow and department organization
- Improve machine utilization and throughput
- Identify opportunities for better tooling and fixturing
- Improve setup times and machining efficiency
- Help develop best practices for CNC machining operations
- Support the long-term growth of the CNC department
- Maintain the highest standards of part quality and accuracy
- Ensure adherence to inspection and verification procedures
- Promote a strong safety culture in the machining department
- Maintain clean and organized work areas- 7+ years of CNC machining experience
- Strong experience with CNC mills and CNC lathes
- Proven ability to program, setup, and run parts independently
- Experience machining steel and stainless steel
- Ability to read and interpret complex prints
- Experience leading or mentoring machinists
- Experience with Mazak Quick Turn lathes
- Experience with live tooling
- Experience with Haas CNC mills
- Experience with Fusion 360 or similar CAM software
- Experience in job shop or repair machining environments
