We are currently seeking a Laborer for our Hebron, OH Service Center. This is a non-exempt, entry level position within the bargaining unit responsible for routine, manual labor work in the construction and maintenance area of the system. Work performed requires limited judgment and is generally under the direction of a Crew Leader or Supervisor. This position will provide the opportunity to gain experience in other company job classifications such as operating various tools and equipment used in field operations. Nature and Scope of Position (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

Assist other crew members in the opening and closing of trenches and in loading and unloading materials and equipment.
Fuse plastic pipe and fittings according to company procedures both in the shop and on the job site.
Assist other crew members with the installation and repair of mains and services.
Keep tools and equipment clean and ready for use as needed to perform daily assignments.
Perform cleanup of job sites and other work areas as directed.
Assist crew leaders, mechanics, equipment operators, and welders or other workers in their assigned duties.
Become familiar with all forms pertaining to construction and maintenance of equipment and facilities such as leak orders, material tickets, maintenance records, etc.
Perform related work as required and other such duties as may be assigned provided the work and duties coincide with employee’s qualifications.

Education and/or Experience:* High school diploma or equivalent GED, a minimum of one year related experience in the natural gas industry; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certifications, Licenses and/or Training:* Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and good driving record. Commercial Driver’s License preferred. Language Skills:* Ability to deal with the general public in a pleasant and courteous manner at all times. Ability to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions. Ability to prepare and complete the necessary service orders, and other written documentation required for this position. Other Skills and Abilities:* General knowledge of tools and equipment used in construction and maintenance of the utility system. Working knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to this type of work. Must maintain good physical condition with sufficient physical strength to perform heavy, manual-type labor encountered in the work area with sound safety practices. Ability to learn to operate line locators, combustible gas instruments, and other tools and equipment used in the construction and repair of the utility system. Adapt to performing under stress, when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations; or in situations in which working speed or sustained attention are critical aspects of the job.

While performing this job, an Employee would regularly walk, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, stoop, lift, use hand tools, operate other tools and power equipment. Successful performance requires ability to maintain sufficient strength to lift heavy objects, and the ability to successfully work in adverse weather conditions.
May require announced or unannounced overtime work and the ability to respond to call-out work during non-working hours or emergencies.
An Employee in this position must successfully complete pre-employment drug and physical testing and is subject to random testing as outlined in the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy.
