Laborer III (Custodial / Plant)

Job Summary

Mid-Maine Waste Action Corporation (MMWAC) is seeking a dependable Laborer III to support plant operations through custodial services, material handling, and general facility support at our waste-to-energy facility.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine janitorial services in offices, restrooms, locker rooms, control rooms, and plant areas

- Clean, paint, and maintain facility and equipment

- Assist Operations and Maintenance during outages and daily work activities

- Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, loaders, cranes, trucks) once qualified

- Support plant operations as assigned, including crane operation

- Fill in at Scale House or Recycling operations when trained

- Perform winter duties including plowing, shoveling, sanding, and site safety

- Run facility-related errands and perform other assigned duties

Required Qualifications

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Valid Class “C” Maine Driver’s License

- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

- Ability to follow oral and written instructions

- Self-motivated with good safety awareness

- Custodial or labor experience preferred

Physical Requirements

- Lift, push, and pull 80+ lbs regularly - Climb ladders and work at heights (75+ ft)

- Work in confined spaces and industrial environments

- Work outdoors in all weather conditions

- Ability to wear respirator and required PPE

Schedule

- Must be flexible to support outages, snow removal, emergency cleanups, and coverage needs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.62 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
