AltaGas - Laboratory Technician

Are you passionate about laboratory work and eager to contribute to a dynamic team in a refinery setting? Enerchem International Inc., a subsidiary of AltaGas Ltd., is seeking a Lab Technician for our Slave Lake, AB operations! In this role, you will perform essential quality control and assurance checks, support routine and complex analyses, and help maintain the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

Tasks & Responsibilities

- Perform QC/QA checks, document lab activities, and update charts as needed

- Maintain lab supplies and chemical inventory; order and restock consumables

- Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on lab instruments

- Safely transport and receive samples, conduct routine and non-routine chemical and physical analyses

- Make informed decisions to support plant operations and client needs

- Follow safety protocols; identify and report safety, environmental, or production issues

- Contribute to lab safety improvements and accident prevention

- Collaborate with team members and support lab operations, plant projects, and process optimization

- Ensure compliance with procedures, policies, and product specifications

- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of testing procedures and lab instruments

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

- Minimum high school diploma or GED required

- 1–2 years of data entry experience and previous lab experience required

- Strong organizational skills

- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and report findings

- Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with laboratory software and data entry systems

- Comprehension of basic math skills to accurately perform and interpret various analyses

- Working knowledge of product specifications to ensure compliance with quality standards

- Demonstrated honesty and integrity in all aspects of work
