POSITION TITLE: Laboratory Technician

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Assist and execute laboratory tests and experiments following technical specifications, quality procedures/work instructions and safety adherence.

WORKING PROCEDURE AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED:

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE OF PAY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.

This position identifies laboratory work which requires a high degree of manipulative or other special skills acquired through experience, coupled with technical training and application of knowledge in the area of specialization.

DIRECTION RECEIVED:

Receives technical specifications, instructions and advice, applies work methods and techniques, detailed instruction provided for unusual work, technical adequacy reviewed at critical points or at completion. General guidance available as technical need arises.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

+ No amount of experience will be permitted to substitute for the required education in Laboratory Tech 10 position. However, recognized technical programs will be permitted to substitute for the required formal education. Some examples of acceptable technical programs would be the Naval Nuclear or other military programs.
