Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. This role tests, calibrates, and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards, and assists in formulating calibration standards by performing the following duties.
Develops gauging setup and surface plate layout procedures, draws patterns and templates and inspects variety of parts and tools. Provides inspection devices and fixtures for use in machining or assembly. is essential for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Analyzes inspection problem by comparing part with blueprints or sketches and devises procedures necessary to measure specified dimensions.
Lays out part on surface plate or positions in gauging setup to verify dimensions.
Develops and draws patterns and templates used to measure curves and angles. Tests surface finish of machined parts.
Analyzes defective parts to determine reasons for dimensional variations such as faulty machining or assembly procedures, setup, tools or fixtures.
Recommends corrective procedures to design, methods, process or production engineering departments.
Inspects machining or assembly fixtures, tools or gauges and suggests replacement or use of new equipment. Approves parts not within specified dimension tolerances.
Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
Provide photographic or photo micrographic evidence on specific issues.
Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
Aligns, repairs, replaces and balances component parts and circuitry.
Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording and indicating instruments and equipment.
Provides direction and drawings on specifications for tool & gage maker.
Plans sequence of testing and calibration procedures for instruments and equipment. Schedules gage R&R’s and requests support from manufacturing to complete.
Maintains work logs and tracking reports in WHM.
Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry.
Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
Contact and lead outside sources when required to support lab functions.
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
