SUMMARY: The Lab Technician is responsible for preparing and testing samples of materials and finished products, ensuring data accuracy and adherence to industry standards, and supporting warehouse and supply chain efficiency. This role requires good analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with the warehouse, supply chain, and sales teams for specific requests.
- Prepare and analyze samples of refined products, customer samples, and other materials using various lab instruments.
- Conduct routine and non-routine laboratory tests to determine physical and chemical properties.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Document and interpret test results, comparing them to established specifications and control limits.
- Ensure that all testing procedures are performed according to established standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, DK TMS).
- Maintain accurate and organized laboratory records and documentation.
- Collaborate with Product Manager to troubleshoot issues and support continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental management policies as well as OSHA requirements.
- Maintain inventory of lab chemicals and supplies.
- Ship out samples as requested by sales team, supply chain team, or Product Manager to specific customers or internationally.
- Routinely monitor the internal oracle system and ensure expiring products are tested for recertification with the assistance and approval of Product Manager.
- Provide Certificate of Analysis (COA) for products that meet specifications or products that need to be recertified.
- Support and assist in implementing and maintaining certified management systems ascribed to DK such as ISO 9001. Identify training needs of personnel. Promote awareness of risks and opportunities associated with their work. Maintain an understanding of the Quality policy and how they personally contribute to meeting DK objectives and goals
- Support and assist in implementing and maintaining the RCMS program. Identify training needs of personnel. Promote awareness of the RCMS guiding principles and Dorf Ketal's HSSE policy, objectives and goals in addition to how they can contribute to them.

- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field. A minor in Chemistry or science related field is also acceptable.
- Experience/Skills:
- 0-2 years of experience in a quality control or laboratory environment, preferably in the oil and gas or petrochemical industries.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory testing techniques and equipment.
- Proficiency with various oil/gas testing techniques (e.g., specific gravity, viscosity, flash point).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient with computer software for data analysis and reporting. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment with strict deadlines
This position requires working in a standard warehousing and/or laboratory environment, handling chemical packages, while wearing all required PPE. Employees will need to be able to stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, bend, feel with hands and fingers, push, pull, reach, walk, stand, climb (stairs/ladders/equipment), lift (up to 50 pounds), and communicate effectively with peers and managers via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
