Staff Accountant
Location: Downtown Maitland, FL
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (up to 2 days remote per week after training)
Reports to: Accounting Manager

As we scale, the Staff Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining our financial health and supporting the broader accounting team.
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is a vital part of the finance team, responsible for supporting the Accounting Manager in various aspects of the accounting cycle. This includes managing AR/AP workflows, assisting with month-end close, job costing, reconciling bank and vendor statements, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting. The role provides opportunities for growth as Meridian continues its expansion.
Responsibilities
•Accounts Payable & Receivable Support
•Process vendor invoices and subcontractor payments using BuilderTrend and QuickBooks Online.
•Assist in tracking and managing customer invoicing and receivables.
•Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
•Help onboard new vendors and ensure all documentation, including insurance, is up to date.
•Reconciliations & Reporting
•Reconcile bank accounts monthly and investigate variances.
•Reconcile credit card and other general ledger accounts as needed.
•Prepare routine financial reports and assist in variance analysis and project profitability reporting.
•Month-End Close & Audit Support
•Support the month-end close process, including accruals and journal entries.
•Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits (financial, insurance, etc.).
•Job Costing & BuilderTrend Management
•Monitor job costs and ensure accuracy of project-related transactions.
•Utilize BuilderTrend for purchase orders, lien waivers, and project tracking.
•Collaborate with project managers to reconcile budget to actuals.
•Administrative & Team Support
•Partner with the Accounting Manager to ensure efficient cash flow and capital tracking.
•Support ongoing system improvements and contribute to accounting process refinement.
Qualifications
•1+ years of accounting experience preferred; construction/homebuilding industry experience is a plus.
•Bachelors Degree in a related field
•Familiarity with accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online
•Experience with Project Management software BuilderTrend or other similar construction software a plus.
•Ability to learn and master new software by way of certifications or other
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
•Strong attention to detail and high organizational skills.
•Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
•Excellent communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
•Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
