Jr. Estimator Role

Alvah Contracting is an outside line construction contractor performing work on behalf of PG&E, primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area.

As a Jr. Estimator you are supporting the Estimating team in preparing cost estimates and bids for a variety of civil construction projects. This role you will work closely with the senior estimator, project managers and subcontractors to gather data, analyze project plans and specifications and contribute to the overall success of our bids. You will play a key part in helping the team meet deadlines and maintain the accuracy and integrity of all estimates. It is your responsibility to keep files and data stored in an organized manner, and to ensure project data is up to date. These tasks are essential to keep ourselves and other teams informed of project statuses and life cycles.

· Monitor inboxes for new RFPs (Request for Proposal) and awards.

· Update trackers with new and updated project information.

· Retrieve new documents from customers and save them to respective locations.

· Correspond with customer for incomplete or missing documents.

· Send/receive documents and bids from subcontractors.

· Assist in reviewing project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate take-offs.

· Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.

· Assist with project handoffs and scope clarifications post award

· Notify required personnel of new and revised awards.

· Organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent customer service skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

· Excellent organizational and time management abilities

· Willingness to learn and grow within the industry.

Ultimately, as you become proficient with the above administrative tasks, we will begin to introduce more technical aspects of estimating, such as project review and pricing to further develop your skills as an estimator. The end goal is your long-term growth in the estimating department.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
