IT Support Technician – Retail
Job Description
IT Support Technicians assist company Retail personnel with the operation/repair of Verifone Point of Sale (POS) systems, Gilbarco Veeder-Root fuel communications, and other Retail site computer and technical equipment.
Provide technical assistance by installing, configuring, testing, and upgrading software and hardware, networks and related Retail application operations.
Manage reactive and proactive based work through a ticketing system and communicate through phone, email or face-to-face. This will include visiting/traveling to local and regional remote site locations throughout North Carolina frequently.
Maintain records of customer transactions through a ticketing system and processes/procedures via a team data repository.
IT Support Technicians collaborate with other IT members (system administrators, developers, analysts, managed service providers, etc.) and Business leaders to develop and implement IT operations and support strategies.
Responsibilities:
•Talk to Retail personnel over the phone, face-to-face or via email to provide solutions to technical problems
•May be dispatched to one or more sites during a workday/week. May also include overnight stays on occasion.
•Part of 24X7 on-call rotation with other IT support team members.
•Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshooting to identify issues
•Develop, implement and maintain technical procedures effective in quickly addressing customers’ problems to minimize downtime
•Educate Retail personnel on procedures for resolving or preventing recurrence of a technical problem
•Act as liaison between the IT organization and the company’s Retail business units
•Explain and provide IT solutions to Retail personnel in non-technical and comprehensible terms
•Operate and work with equipment such as Retail POS, telecommunications hardware and software, end-user devices (laptops, phones, tablets), printers, scanners, etc.
Requirements
•Moderate knowledge of PC support and Corporate Software installations (MS Office, web browsers, connectivity clients, VPN, etc.)
•Moderate knowledge of current networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, network layers, Ethernet), wired/wireless networking (routers, switches, firewalls, access points) and working with CAT 5/6 cabling and cable management installations
•Must be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs. Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, bend, twist, and reach frequently.
•Valid driver’s license and Department of Motor Vehicles Report
•Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the required criteria for driving a company vehicle
