We are looking for an experienced and technically adept IT Consultant to lead in Datacenter Support, to include Dell, Cisco and HPE hardware. This role is ideal for a hands-on person who can assist in complex infrastructure projects, optimize enterprise environments and assist in maintaining our Disaster Recovery solutions.
This position will work closely with business units, internal IT teams, and strategic partners to support Entergy’s evolution into a modern, agile enterprise while maintaining the reliability expected from a leading utility company. The role requires a balance of technical skills, cross-functional collaboration, hands-on support, a strong emphasis on automation, and operational excellence.
- Racking and stacking servers, network appliances, and other hardware.
- Installing, replacing, and decommissioning equipment; performing physical inspections and basic troubleshooting.
- Running, patching, and managing cables, including Ethernet and fiber optic connections.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware and basic network issues, often under the guidance of remote and on-prem IT engineering teams.
- Maintenance and testing of an Isolated Backup Solution environment to ensure disaster recovery compliance.
- Following instructions from remote teams to perform tasks like power cycling equipment, reseating components, or running diagnostics.
- Maintaining accurate inventory of hardware installations and removals.
- Maintain troubleshooting and process documentation.
- Adhering to data center security protocols for access control and equipment handling.
- Checking for issues like overheating, power failures, and other environmental concerns.
- Associate’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of experience in a data center or IT support role with a focus on hardware support or similar experience.- Knowledge of different data center hardware components, basic networking skills, and knowledge of troubleshooting methodologies.
- Ability to handle and manipulate hardware components, including cabling.
- Excellent communicator capable of clear and concise communication with remote teams and other on-prem personnel.
- Ability to analyze issues and follow instructions to resolve technical problems.
- Ensuring accurate documentation and following procedures correctly.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Physically capable of moving and racking equipment. Ability to Lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to participate in 24/7 on call rotations and work within escalation procedures.
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate)
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and/or Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP)
- Experience with hybrid cloud integration (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Familiarity with backup and DR tools (Commvault, VMware SRM)
- Experience with enterprise management platforms such as ServiceNow, BigFix, TSCO, Cisco UCS Manager, Open Manage Enterprise
