About the role

Job Type:

Full-time

We are a growing startup looking for a hands-on Intermediate Accountant to own day-to-day accounting operations and support the build-out of scalable financial processes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, working closely with founders, and growing with the company. You will work independently on core accounting tasks while partnering with external advisors or fractional finance leadership for complex areas such as audits, technical accounting, and ect.

Responsibilities:

Core Accounting & Close

- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts

- Prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals

- Support month-end and year-end close processes

- Prepare basic financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)

Operational Accounting

- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable

- Coordinate payroll and benefits administration

- Track expenses, prepaid costs, and fixed assets

- Support revenue tracking and deferred revenue schedules

Compliance & Reporting

- Prepare and file GST/HST (and PST/QST if applicable)

- Support corporate tax filings with external accountants

- Assist with audit or review engagements

- Maintain organized financial documentation and schedules

Startup Support

- Help improve and document accounting processes

- Support budgeting and cash flow tracking

- Work closely with founders and operations teams

- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis as needed

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

- 3–6 years of accounting experience

- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals

- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, or similar)

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Requirements:

- CPA candidate or intention to pursue CPA designation

- Familiarity with ASPE or IFRS

- SaaS or subscription business exposure

- Startup, scale-up, or small-company experience
