General Summary
Reporting to the Manager, HSE, the HSE Representative (Night Shift) is responsible for advising, assisting, leading, and coaching management and employees with direction and implementation of the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental programs and policies. The HSE Representative develops, implements, and sustains HSE Policies, Procedures & Programs to drive incidents and injuries to "zero". With a foundation of integrity, the candidate would use commitment and creativity to drive our organization forward, ensuring compliance with the company's policies & procedures and with local, state, and federal regulations.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
•Ability to work in an industrial workshop environment
•Ability to coach and correct employee safety behaviors/actions
•Coordinate safety audits and meetings (monthly shop/facility inspection audits, fall protection audits, ladder audits, sling/rigging audits etc.)
•Coordinate and/or take minutes from meetings-Safety Committee/ Monthly Safety Meeting/ Focus Group Meeting
•Add actions from audits and meetings to action item data base
•Set up drug/alcohol testing for new hires
•Set up Fit for Duty Testing
•Manage Short Service Employee list
•Keep up with evacuation lists (i.e., New Hires for all location, transfers)
•Keep up with transfers in Training Matrix.
•Build and send out Daily Safety topics
•Assist with management of Prescription Safety Glasses program
•Assist with management of SDS for Facility
•Assist with management of waste pickups
•Collect monthly paint/solvent usage data for Emissions Inventory calculations
•Enter testing results (i.e., Storm water, sand from blasting etc.)
•Oversee onsite contractor work staff
•Other duties as needed or directed by the Manager/Supervisor
Qualifications
•High School diploma or GED equivalent
•Minimum of 3+ years’ relevant experience; knowledge of workplace health and safety programs is preferred.
•Ability to train employees in a multicultural environment with good command of spoken and written English and Spanish.
•Good presentation skills and versatile in using multi-media.
•Effective Communicator with ability to interact at all levels.
•Computer literate and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
•Pro-active, energetic, strong enthusiasm and a passion for excellence.
Working Conditions
Work environment consists mainly of operating plant environment. The HSE Representative will work 30% of the time in an air-conditioned office and 70% (dependent on facility needs) of the time on the Production Shop floor or yard with no air-conditioning.
