HSE Managerto work with our team in
Edmonton, Alberta.
Reporting to the Vice President of HSE, the HSE Manager will be responsible for implementing and administering a comprehensive health and safety management program and providing technical expertise and guidance to staff and management on Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
The incumbent will develop, coordinate, and conduct effective training programs, lead joint OH&S committees and incident investigations, serve as the liaison with the Corporate Health Nurse, OH&S and WCB as required, provide claims management in coordination with the Corporate Occupational Health Nurse, and analyzes trends and options for modified work if necessary.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the development and ongoing maintenance of the health, safety, and environmental management systems.
- Promote positive safety attitudes, and safe work practices and environments in the organization by leading the continuous improvement of the HS&E Management System, designed to minimize injuries, reduce exposure to workplace hazards and comply with company, client, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications and COR equivalency.
- Ability to assess an operation and identify the HS&E needs and issues and develop site-specific improvement plans.
- Establish training program to ensure HS&E are presented and registered training of safety is completed to ensure our staff are well informed.
- Complete Risk Assessments on projects and on a regular basis
- Coordinate and lead others on emergency planning.
- Study incidents to determine incident root cause(s) and develop corrective action(s) to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
These Responsibilities May Require That The HS&E Manager To
- Perform onsite and offsite audits, behavioral observations, and safety meetings.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and enforce Corporate HSE Policies and Management Systems.
- Facilitate employee safety committees and programs.
- Participate in incident investigations.
- Conduct/lead risk assessment activities to develop proactive / preventative measures to reduce risk to employees.
- Inspect premises (regularly) for fire hazards and adequate fire protection and inspect firefighting equipment.
- Conduct noise level surveys
- Identify harmful or hazardous dust, vapor or gases, and advise management about corrective measures.
- Monitor and ensure that all hazardous and non-hazardous waste is managed in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor corrective actions and track until closure.
- Perform other HS&E related duties as directed by the Corporate HS&E leadership team.
- 3 to 5 years of HSE experience in the upstream oilfield or related manufacturing industry
- Relevant degree or diploma preferable with an OH&S concentration
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements of OH&S Act, regulations, and codes, HSE Management Systems, OSHA, EPA and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- ISO Auditing experience would be considered an asset.
- A CRSP designation would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite
