The HR Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive human resources support across the organization, with a significant focus on payroll processing and administration. This role performs a wide range of HR functions including payroll management, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, policy and compliance management. The HR Generalist serves as a key point of contact for employees regarding HR and payroll matters and works collaboratively with management to support organizational goals.
- Payroll Processing: Manage the full payroll cycle including data collection, processing, and distribution of paychecks/direct deposits. Handle tax withholdings, benefit deductions, garnishments, and special payments. Ensure accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll. Maintain payroll records and generate reports as needed.
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Coordinate full-cycle recruitment processes including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and offer management. Develop and implement effective onboarding programs for new employees.
- Offboarding: Manage all aspects of employee offboarding including exit interviews, system access termination, final paychecks, benefits transitions, and documentation.
- Employee Relations: Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and provide guidance on company policies. Maintain open communication channels with employees and managers.
- Benefits Administration: Manage employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, and other company perks. Respond to benefits inquiries and coordinate annual enrollment processes.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Performance Management: Support managers in processing performance review processes, including documentation, goal setting, and performance improvement plans.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain accurate employee records and documentation.
- Training and Development: Coordinate training programs and professional development opportunities for employees.
- Record Management: Maintain employee data in the company's Human Resources System, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Reporting and Analytics: Generate HR and payroll reports and metrics to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Special Projects: Lead or support HR initiatives and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 2-5 years of experience in HR, with exposure to multiple HR functions
- 2-5 years of experience in Payroll processing and administration with understanding of payroll tax requirements and compliance
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations
- Proactive and self stater takes initiative, is resourceful and motivated to take ownership and see projects through
- Highly self-manageable can prioritize, organize, and follow through on tasks with minimal oversight
- Proficiency with payroll systems and MS Office applications
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
