Anchor Fabrication, a metal fabrication company located in Smithville, TN, is seeking a well-rounded Human Resources Generalist.
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties at a professional level in a 3-shift manufacturing environment and works closely with the HR Manager in supporting all aspects of Human Resources. This position carries out and assists with responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, recruiting, onboarding, policy implementation, and employment law compliance and must be flexible to meet to the needs of all manufacturing shifts.
- Maintains the work structure by ensuring job requirements and job descriptions are current for all positions
- Develop hiring processes for all levels from temporary staffing to executive placement in conjunction with the Manager of Human Resources
- Verify employee status complies with the exempt/non-exempt classification
- Participate in developing department goals and objectives
- Ensure orientation and training programs are conducted and are effective
- Participate in taking action upon receipt of complaints in regards to investigating complaint, communicating the findings and taking corrective action as required
- Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
- Work with the management team to improve and communicate policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations
- Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
- Maintains personnel and related employment files.
- Coach supervisors regarding employee relations
- Work with supervisors and employees regarding employee discipline
- Work with supervisors and employees to review issues and find resolutions to grievances by counseling employees and supervisors
- Work closely with the operational team to ensure that human resources is closely involved, informed and supportive of all ongoing operational initiatives
- Ensure information is kept current and readily available; including Company policies, employee handbooks, other published materials for employees, HRIS, etc.
- Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records
- Participate in obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs
- Work with the management team to develop plans to improve documentation storage; in terms of security, accessibility, accuracy and efficiency
- Participate in maintaining internal communications (meetings, presentations, employee materials) and external communications (marketing, website)
- Conduct and analyze exit interviews; recommending changes
- Administers unemployment insurance processes; reviews liability reports and monitors program costs; and recommends policy changes to the Manager of Human Resources
- Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of personnel policies and procedure.
Qualified candidates will possess a working knowledge of HR/employment laws, benefits administration, employee relations, computer proficiency. Must be able to communicate effectively with both verbal and written communication. Must be detail oriented, organized and able to maintain confidential information.
- 3 to 5 years in an HR Generalist role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
