The HR Generalist - Payroll and Benefits Administrator supports human resources, benefits and payroll functions across all departments, providing day to day professional HR services. This position is responsible for ensuring payroll responsibilities are handled in a timely manner, with accuracy and confidentiality. This position requires the ability to work independently and prioritize duties to meet deadlines. This position must work together with the finance and HR departments.
- Manage and maintain payroll system including new employee setup, timesheet creation and manage employee deductions and allowances.
- Process a weekly hourly payroll and a bi-weekly salary payroll.
- Process and analyze payroll reports i.e. RRSP,EHT, etc.
- Identify, analyze and resolve any payroll issues.
- Process manual payments and cheques through payroll system.
- Reconcile payroll balance sheet accounts (taxes, CPP, etc.)
- Complete termination documentation and ROE’s.
- Create Payroll journal entries for Accounting.
- Process government remittances.
- Address employees’ HR or Payroll related questions and inquiries in a timely manner.
- Administer the group benefits program including registrations and assisting with inquiries as needed.
- When necessary, complete any wage and government surveys.
- Other duties as directed.
- Input of payroll data
- Performs audits on a random basis
- Assist in employee issues concerning WSIB, Benefits, Vacation, LOA’s, etc.
- Customer contact regarding outstanding payments
- Preparation of payroll data
- Auditing of payroll accuracy
- Reconcile payroll balance sheet in a positive position
- Up to date RRSP reports
- Verify and inputting of payroll data
- Audit of Dayforce system
- Ensure integrity of payroll using Dayforce system
- Remain in compliance with legal, moral and ethical standards
- Manage the group benefit plans
- Ensure compliance with legal, moral and ethical standards within the benefit plans
- Post-secondary education in payroll or related field is a plus.
- Prior experience in payroll.
- Familiarity with Dayforce HCM and proficiency in MS Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive and proactive attitude.
- Knowledge of the Aluminum Extrusion would be an asset
