The HR & Payroll Generalist supports day-to-day human resources and payroll operations, ensuring accurate payroll processing, compliance with federal and state regulations, and a positive employee experience. This role partners closely with HR leadership, Finance, and Operations to manage multi-state payroll, benefits administration, HRIS data integrity, and payroll accounting support.
· Process bi-weekly multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
· Administer payroll through Paylocity, including new hires, terminations (as needed), pay changes, PTO accruals, bonuses, and off-cycle payrolls
· Maintain employee data integrity within Paylocity (job codes, departments, pay rates, tax setups, deductions)
· Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and managers with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
· Support year-end payroll activities including W-2 processing, audits, and reconciliations
· Perform GL mapping and payroll coding to ensure payroll expenses are accurately allocated by department, location, and cost center
· Partner with Finance to support payroll reconciliations, variance reviews, and general ledger reporting
· Assist with payroll journal entries, audits, and documentation as needed
· Support integration between Paylocity and accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar)
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, payroll tax requirements, and reporting obligations
· Support multi-state tax registrations, withholding, and agency correspondence as needed
· Assist with workers’ compensation payroll reporting and audits
· Maintain compliance with I-9, E-Verify, and personnel file requirements
· Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including system setup, documentation, and employee communications
· Assist with benefits administration support (eligibility changes, life events, vendor coordination)
· Maintain employee personnel files in accordance with record retention requirements
· Support HR initiatives related to policies, audits, reporting, and employee relations as needed
· 3+ years of experience in payroll and/or HR administration
· High School Diploma or equivalent; CPP preferred.
Hands-on experience processing multi-state payroll
Strong working knowledge of Paylocity

Experience with GL mapping, payroll coding, and working with Finance/accounting teams

Solid understanding of payroll tax and wage & hour compliance

High attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
