Heavy Equipment Operator

Company: Metalico Buffalo Inc. Position: Heavy Equipment Operator. Location: 127 Fillmore Ave. Buffalo NY, 14210. Job Type: Full-time, Non-exempt. Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-4:00PM, Saturdays as needed 8:00AM-12:00PM. Compensation: $20-23.00/hr, based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities:

- Safe Handling and/or moving material.

- Knowledge of the excavator/magnet/grapple loading requirements; material shipping specifications; weight thresholds.

- Effective communication with all site personnel.

- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.

- Daily maintenance of equipment.

- Identify, report, correct and/or prevent hazards.

- Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure work is completed in a safe and responsible manner.

- Ability to sit for long periods of time.

- Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis.

- Work outside in the elements regardless of the season.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Heavy equipment certification a plus.

- 2+ years of heavy equipment operation experience.

- Organizational skills, able to multitask.

- Self-motivated, ability to work independently.

- Team player, able to get along with a diverse group.
