- Job Summary: The Shop Diesel Mechanic Foreman is responsible for overseeing the inspection, repair, maintenance of all mobile equipment used in company operations. A primary goal is to minimize production downtime by ensuring that equipment operates safely and efficiently. This role requires strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems, transmissions & various other mechanical componentry.
The Mechanic Foreman will lead daily shop operations, supervise maintenance personnel, and ensure compliance with company & regulatory safety standards.
As a key technical advisor, the Foreman will diagnose issues, implement preventative and corrective maintenance and work to optimize equipment uptime. Strong leadership, effective team management, and strong interpersonal skills are essential for maintaining effective relationships with both internal and external partners. Additional responsibilities include assisting in purchasing decisions for mobile equipment, as well as recommending improvements to maintenance processes to enhance efficiency and performance.
Work Environment/Conditions: Work is performed in a combination of field (outdoor) and shop/office environment. Exposure to noise, dust, heavy equipment, and varying weather conditions. Must be able to walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs. May require extended hours, including nights/weekends, based on operational needs

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, And Detailed Work Activities Include
- Maintain an orderly and clean shop to promote an efficient and safe work environment.
- Oversee, troubleshoot, repair, maintain all mobile equipment including haul trucks, loaders, excavators, triaxle dump trucks, and other support vehicles. Verify conformance to standards or repair requirements.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
- Perform wide range of repairs, including PM services, hydraulic, electrical, and brake system repairs; PA inspections, wear item replacement, and component change-outs, welding as needed.
- Supervise, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities with mechanics and other service technicians to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Use Fleet Maintenance Software for PM services and repair tracking.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot various equipment issues.
- Ability to study manufacturers' manuals to determine correct repair procedures and operation of equipment.
- Manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies.
- Assist management with repair/rebuild/replace decisions regarding mobile equipment.
- Assist in training new and existing employees in various tasks.
- Other duties as assigned by management.- 5+ years in Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance or related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered
- 3 years in a supervisory or management role preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of hydraulics and diesel engines, electrical systems, welding, and fabrication.
- Proficiency with fleet maintenance software and diagnostic tools
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and problem-solving abilities are a must
- CDL & PA State Inspection License preferred but not required
