We are currently seeking a Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic for one of our Bakersfield Divisions.
- Diagnose/rebuild/repair vehicles and equipment.
- Performs detailed inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, remove and repair engines.
- Remove and replace transmissions and brakes.
- Repair, mount and dismount tires.
- Repair and replace hydraulic hoses.
- Remove and replace breaks
- Prepares and maintains records and reports.
- Must follow all safety procedures and policies.
- Methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
- Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs. Safety practices and procedures.
- Working knowledge of:
- Mechanical design and fabrication.
- Electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems.
- Skill in:
- Use of power and hand tools.
- Use of diagnostic equipment.
- Acetylene and electric arc welding.
- Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Ability to:
- Work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Diagnose problems and make repairs in the field.
- Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
- Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Minimum of three years of experience and/or training in CNG/LNG/Diesel truck repair and maintenance, required
- Or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Have a clean driving record
- Waste Industry experience, preferred
- In-frame engine overall experience, preferred
- Welding experience, preferred
- Valid California Driver's License and a clean driving record, required
- Be able to perform heavy lifting up to 75lbs.
- Physically demanding.
- Work overhead and underneath equipment.
- Will be exposed to outdoor weather heat, cold, rain, and wind.
- Will be exposed to moderate levels of noise and dust.
