This position coaches, trains, mentors and manages the activities of personnel assigned to the Purchasing Group. It has the responsibility for acquisition of equipment, materials, services and construction to support plant operations. It ensures goods and services meet the specifications requested at a reasonable price and in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manages the procurement process by approving the selection, qualification and management of vendors as well as management of contracts.
- Determines procurement methods, appropriate terms & conditions, negotiates and reviews, administers of contracts. Performs oversight of direct reports performing these functions.
- Achieves cost reductions through best value procurements.
- Manages procurement records retention.
- Ensures proper controls are in place, conducts, audits and reviews, performs problem identification and ensures corrective actions are completed.
- Coordinates to ensure procurement priorities are aligned with plant requirements.
- Ensures subcontract compliance with DOE prime contract requirements, where applicable.
- Communicates procurement status at work planning meetings.
- Ensures quality system requirements are met for procurement of QL-1 and QL-2 items and services.
- Manages organizational performance and balances workload.
- Maintains awareness of industry best practices and develops process improvements.
- Processes changes to Procurement procedures as needed.
- Incumbent has responsibility and authority to recommend changes in employment status including but not limited to hiring, discipline, promotion and termination for persons working under their direction.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- This position has the authority to provide leadership, planning and direction for activities necessary to conduct business to meet regulatory requirements and to support corporate mission.
- Develops department budget and is responsible for spending on resources, materials and expenses and taking appropriate actions as required.
- This position evaluates and signs performance reviews of regular full-time employees, instructs other employees in methods or procedures needed to carry out their job, makes work assignments for others, makes hiring and hiring pay recommendations, hiring and hiring pay decisions, recommends pay changes and terminations for poor performance.

We'd Love to Hear from Candidates With:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or physical sciences , or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
- 4 years nuclear experience
- 10 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPM certification preferred.
- Knowledge of purchasing and related functions including supply chain management concepts.
