Groundman/Apprentice Lineman

Position Summary

A successful Groundman/Apprentice Lineman is a strong team-player willing and able to take direction from peers and superiors. This position requires a hard-working person, who can assist a crew to ensure proper construction, service, maintenance and tree-trimming of electrical distribution services. Safety is a top priority for this position; on-the-job training will be provided. This is an on-call position where one must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as handle high stress situations.

Work Hours/Conditions

- Typical work schedule is four (4) ten-hour days per week

- Must be available to work stand-by (on-call) and during emergency conditions after regular workweek hours.

- Majority of work takes place outdoors with exposure to adverse conditions such as extreme heat or cold, high winds, and stormy weather.

Education/Experience

- Accepting all experience levels for consideration. Linework experience is preferred; not required.

- Must be able to meet or exceed the requirements outlined in the job description below.

- High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Certification/Requirements

- This is a dangerous occupation; extreme vigilance and attention to high safety standards is required.

- Must possess a current Texas Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and maintain an insurable driving record.

- Must be able to complete and pass CPR and First Aid training.

- Must have physical stamina to lift heavy objects and work in extreme weather conditions.
