National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

Graduates in our Finance teams will take part in a 12-month exploration. Your first 6 months will be in the role outlined below and you will return to this role following a broadening 6-month placement designed to provide you with a breadth of experience within your functional area and accelerate your progression at National Grid. This placement will provide you with the opportunity to solve complex problems and focus on growth that will transform the energy sector as we know it.

As an Associate Data Analyst in National Grid’s Financial Data and Reporting Office (FDRO), you’ll play a crucial role in delivering financial data reports that support our operations across the globe. You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure our reporting is accurate, complete, and tailored to their needs.

This is a hybrid role based in Waltham, MA, Syracuse, NY, or Brooklyn, NY, with the flexibility to work in the office one day a week as needed for meetings, training, and collaboration.

- Data Insights: Build, maintain, and update data visualizations, dashboards, and analyses that make financial data come to life.

- Collaborate & Deliver: Partner with stakeholders across the Finance team to manage and deliver data solutions that drive efficiency.

- Innovate Together: Contribute to a motivated, innovative, and customer-focused finance team, helping to develop and update policies and procedures for financial reporting.

- Drive Change: Support the delivery of change across Finance and the business, embracing new ways of working and owning key outcomes to enhance long-term business capabilities.

Example Projects Include

- Aligning datasets and reporting between the US and UK as part of National Grid’s global integration.

- Integrating Global Finance data with Global Procurement data to effectively measure and analyze our multi-billion dollar vendor relationships.

- Transforming our Global ESG (Environmental, Social, & Governance) reporting from a manual process into a validated, automated system.

What You’ll Need

- Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferably in Business, Data Analytics, Finance or a related field.

- Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026

- Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 8, 2026, or July 13, 2026

- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy

- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

It would be awesome if you had

- Advanced experience with SQL, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Python or other data visualization/manipulation tools

Salary Range

Brooklyn, NY $71,000 - $84,000 a year

Syracuse, NY $60,000 - $72,000 a year

Waltham, MA $67,000 - $79,000 a year

You must reside within our existing footprint, which includes contiguous states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont). Our hybrid working approach applies to all colleagues who have a role which has the flexibility to be done hybrid across the National Grid group. Operational requirements mean that not all roles are suitable for hybrid working. Managers are responsible for determining whether a role is conducive to hybrid working. A hybrid worker should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to their assigned primary office.
