About This Job

Find your superpower with the Graduate Development Program

National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

About the Position

Are you ready to dive into the world of business analysis and strategy in the energy sector? As an Associate Business Analyst in Business Development, you’ll play a key role in shaping transmission policy and strategy for National Grid in New England. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across the region to ensure our objectives align with the ever-changing external environment. This is your chance to engage with policymakers, government officials, and regulators while helping to define the future of our transmission network!

This is a hybrid role based in Waltham, MA.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of transmission policy and strategy. Here’s what you’ll be up to:

- Policy Development: Assist the team in developing transmission policies and wholesale market regulations that align with National Grid’s objectives while collaborating with colleagues across New England Electric.

- Engagement Materials: Prepare materials and analyses to engage with New England policymakers, government officials, and regulators, ensuring our voice is heard.

- Strategic Insight: Provide strategic insights and facilitate processes to engage with external stakeholders, including policymakers, other utilities, and ISO-NE, on the regional transmission planning process.

- Market Analysis: Analyze ISO New England market trends and their implications for National Grid’s wholesale transmission customers, helping us stay ahead of the curve.

- Regulatory Filings: Work with company stakeholders to prepare FERC and other state regulatory filings, ensuring compliance and effective communication.

- Project Development: Participate in the development of transmission projects in response to competitive Requests for Proposals (RFPs), assisting in the preparation of bid documents and narratives.

- Competitive Analysis: Lead competitive analysis and project development for opportunities within NE Electric, collaborating with other transmission developers and owners.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Represent National Grid at PAC meetings and external planning committees, engaging with policymakers primarily in MA, NH, and VT, as well as other New England states.

What You’ll Need

- Bachelors or Master's degree from an accredited institution preferably in economics, energy policy, environmental policy, public policy, government, or a related field.

- Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026

- Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 8, 2026, or July 13, 2026

- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy

- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)
