Data Analyst Intern

Columbia Power & Water Systems (CPWS) is a public utility proudly serving the citizens of Columbia and Maury County Tennessee since 1939. CPWS is seeking a Data Analyst Intern to work with our CIS Team. We are seeking a student currently enrolled in college with an interest in all things data! This internship will include heavy review and clean-up of data, data analysis, workflow testing and review, and other projects.

This position can be a hybrid position with some work occurring offsite; however, the intern must be able to work from our location at 201 Pickens Lane, Columbia, TN a minimum of 1 day per week. This internship will be from October 2025 – June 2026 and be approximately 15 hours per week. This is a paid internship. This position is not eligible for benefits with the exception of paid company designated holidays.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

- Data entry and cleanup (primary duty).

- Analyze data to ensure integrity of our CIS.

- Support the testing and implementation of new processes and workflows.

- Support the development of business procedures and process documentation.

- Performs related work as required.

Qualifications:

- Coursework from an accredited college or university in GIS, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field. Must currently be enrolled in college level courses.

- Proficient in all MS Office software (Especially Excel).

- Exceptional communication skills (verbal & written).

- Organizational and interpersonal skills are a must.

- A desire to work within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.

- Ability to work remotely while also meeting performance expectations.

- Interest in learning about the utility industry.

- Must have access to internet when working remotely.

- Must be able to commit 15 hours a week to the internship; and work from our Columbia, TN office as requested.
