The GIS Analyst will play a key role in analyzing spatial and tabular data, improving business processes, and delivering high-quality GIS solutions that support both internal operations and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, particularly within Esri platforms, and experience working in utility or pipeline GIS environments.
- Perform advanced GIS analysis, spatial modeling, and geoprocessing to support business needs
- Conduct data mining activities to extract, analyze, and interpret spatial and non-spatial data
- Create, maintain, and update GIS datasets from multiple sources (spatial and tabular)
- Process, convert, and migrate data across systems and platforms
- Design, develop, and maintain GIS databases and data structures
- Perform QA/QC on GIS data to ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency before production deployment
- Reconcile and validate versioned data within enterprise GIS environments
- Support database maintenance and system performance optimization
- Develop and maintain automated GIS workflows using ModelBuilder, Python scripting, or similar tools
- Assist in building and enhancing GIS applications and tools
- Perform application testing, identify defects, and document results
- Support integration of GIS systems with other enterprise platforms
- Analyze existing workflows and business processes to identify improvement opportunities
- Recommend and implement best practices for GIS data management and processing
- Support technical project tasks including database design and system enhancements
- Identify and evaluate new GIS technologies, tools, and methodologies
- Develop custom maps, reports, and visualizations to meet stakeholder requirements
- Provide specialized queries and data outputs for internal and external customers
- Interface with users to gather requirements and document requested changes
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography (GIS), Engineering, Computer Science, or related field OR
- GIS Certificate with 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Minimum 3+ years of GIS experience using industry-standard tools
- At least 1+ year of experience in utility or pipeline GIS environments (preferred)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Understanding of Utility and Pipeline Data Models (UPDM) preferred
- Experience working with large-scale geospatial datasets and enterprise systems
- Knowledge of data conversion, migration, and integration processes
- Strong ability to analyze complex datasets and identify actionable insights
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend optimal solutions
- High attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities
- Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Hybrid work structure with 4 days in-office and 1 day remote
