Title: GIS Administrator / GIS Systems Support Consultant Type: Contract – 12+ Months (Possible Extension) Location: 100% Remote (10–20 Hrs/Week) Department/Agency: OIT – Office of Information Technology
The consultant will maintain and support the geospatial infrastructure (ArcGIS & SDE), manage upgrades, and reduce the current backlog of work. Responsibilities include system maintenance, project planning, enhancements, and adherence to OIT’s software policies.
- ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 (Azure Environment)
- Application Frameworks
- MS SQL Server / Oracle RDBMS
- Support and maintain ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online in Azure.
- Administer ArcGIS Server & ArcSDE (multi-user versioned editing, archiving).
- Manage geodatabases (SQL Server / Oracle RDBMS) in Azure.
- Install, configure, monitor, and tune GIS systems.
- Support ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap (Desktop 3), and GIS applications.
- Develop/maintain scripts, models, geoprocessing tools.
- Deploy GIS services, data services, and web applications securely.
- Design GIS architecture to integrate new/emerging technologies.
- Work directly with end-users to capture and refine requirements.
- Provide system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance optimization.
- Conduct and evaluate system testing.
- Ensure compliance with MaineIT governance policies.
- Strong GIS administration experience in Azure environments.
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap.
- Proficiency in SQL Server / Oracle database administration.
- Familiarity with geospatial data types and web application support.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
