Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented GIS Analyst to lead centralized geospatial data management, improve data integrity, and enhance decision-making capabilities across multiple departments. This role will support critical projects, optimize processes, and provide expert-level GIS solutions to drive efficiency, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Centralized Data Management
Develop and maintain a “single source of truth” for all geospatial data, integrating sources such as the Land Information System (LIS), GIS, and Google Drive.
Prepare for future integration with a centralized global LMS spatial and non-spatial database.
2. Data Integrity, Automation & Reporting
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of GIS datasets.
Automate data imports from platforms such as Site Scan and ArcGIS Online.
Produce high-quality maps, reports, charts, and data visualizations for real-time decision-making.
3. Project Support & Cross-Department Collaboration
Lands Management: Draw and validate linework based on land records, create new polygons, and export shapefiles.
Database maintenance and reconciliation with GIS mapping

Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) & Sustainability: Manage EHS and biodiversity layers, develop land cover and water infiltration maps, and support flood impact analysis.
Operations & Geology: Assist with regional geology mapping, watershed analysis, DEM raster data processing, underground mapping, utilities mapping, and pit design.
Reserves and Resources collaboration
Support major initiatives, including Project Atlas, operations mapping, transportation mapping, timber mapping, disturbed lands mapping, and biodiversity tracking.
4. Advanced GIS Applications & Analysis
Conduct competitor analysis, route optimization, and property analytics (including timber inventory, drone imagery, and 3D underground mapping).
Enable mobile GIS solutions such as QR-code-enabled maps for on-site access.
Provide hydrological modeling and advanced simulations using enhanced GIS tools.
5. General GIS Support
Offer in-house expertise for projects previously outsourced or under-resourced.
Share GIS layers between short- and long-term mine planning teams.
Respond quickly to ad hoc mapping and analysis requests to support business decisions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Proven experience with ESRI ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Site Scan).
Strong skills in data management, automation, and spatial analysis.
Knowledge of hydrology, geology, land management, or mining industry practices preferred.
Experience with DEM raster data processing, 3D modeling, and remote sensing is a plus.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
